On February 27 and 28, 2018, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, with the support of SE "Classification Society
Register of Shipping of Ukraine", Dnipro Development Initiative, Embassy and Government of the Kingdom of the
Netherlands, held a training seminar on preparation for the IMO audit and the preparation of auditors who will
conduct audits of recognized organizations for compliance with the Code of recognized organizations, approved by
Resolution MSC.349 (92) of the Maritime Safety Committee at the 92nd session of the IMO on June 21, 2013.
It was attended by employees of the Ministry of Infrastructure, the State Service of Ukraine for Transport
Safety, the State Agency for Fisheries of Ukraine , SE "Ukrainian Seaport Authority ", SE "Marine Search
and Rescue Service", the State Hydrographic Service of Ukraine, the State Enterprise, SE "Classification
Society Shipping Register of Ukraine", the Inspectorate for Training and Certification of Seafarers,
lecturers of the Odessa National Maritime University.
The workshop was held by IMO Technical Advisor, maritime shipping expert, Stefan P. Assheuer with the
purpose of assisting Ukraine in increasing the level of readiness for IMO audits scheduled for June 2018
and the preparation of auditors to oversee recognized organizations.
During the seminar the participants reviewed the main provisions of the Code, reviewed the procedure
for delegating by the Maritime Administration the authority on statutory certification of ships to
the organization that meets the requirements of the Code, the procedure for control of the recognized
organization by the Administration in accordance with the Code, monitoring means and stages of audit of
recognized organization as well as the main requirements to auditors and conducting the audit itself, etc.
